What looks like the door to this Oxford Hotel original is actually an entrance to a time capsule. The Cruise Room famously opened the day after the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, and its Art Deco interior has been preserved down to the last detail. The Oxford Hotel itself — built in 1891 with brewer Adolph Zang's money — stands about a half block away from the entrance to Denver's longtime train depot, Union Station.
As part of a seven-year room-by-room renovation, The Oxford team hired an iron artist to create a replica of the original doorway arch. This throwback to The Oxford’s early beginnings was one of many historical details included in the continued modernization of the property. Hamilton and Brooks continue to improve and expand The Oxford, adding a five-story annex into the mix.
